An Abergavenny squad made up of juniors and seniors secured 2nd place in the inaugral Brecon Festival Mixed 7's held on 24th July 2010. Abergavenny lost just one game, unfortunately it was the final! Anthony Clements picked up the award for top scorer of the competition, weighing in with 6 strikes.
Mens and Ladies fixtures, including pushback times for home matches, for the forthcoming season have been confirmed and the website updated. As and when away pushback times are known these will be added.
An Abergavenny mixed side lost 4-1 to a touring Tamworth side on 22nd May 2010. Despite pulling the score back to 1-1 and missing several good opportunities Abergavenny were unable to capitalise and eventually wilted in the heat, shipping 3 late goals and going down 4-1. Michael Potts got the goal for Abergavenny.

Welcome to the Abergavenny Hockey website. The club has a strong and proud history going back over 100 years and was one of the first clubs to be formed in Wales.
Presently Abergavenny Hockey Club runs 2 Men's teams, a Ladies team and Junior teams for various ages. All teams compete in leagues and cup competitions so there is plenty opportunity to release the stress of the working week. There is also the mixed team that enjoys hockey tours all over Britain.
Abergavenny is proud of its social side and regularly organise events to show that hockey really is a team event that can never be taken too seriously. With a membership list of over 100 players and non-players, not to mention a huge number of juniors, Abergavenny can guarantee new members will find people of similar age, ability and sense of humour.
The season 2009-10 sees Abergavenny receive further Community Chest funding in order to invest in the provision of coaches, initially for the Junior section, but moving into the Senior sections over the coming seasons. Read about it here
If you are a newcomer to Hockey you are more than welcome to come along to a training session or match and see if you like it. Have a read of the FIH Guide to outdoor hockey to understand the fundamentals of the game.
