The development of the junior section of the club is one of the top priorities of the club. Not only does it feed the senior teams in years to come, but also in the past has had it's own successes in Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 competitions.
The junior section of the club is open to boys and girls who can safely conduct themselves with a hockey stick in their hand! Usually this means from age 9 and above, school year 5. This is not a hard and fast rule and is very much down to the individual and parental choice.
There is no formal upper age limit on the junior section; older players naturally move up into the senior training, perhaps from age 14 and above. But again it all very much depends on the individual.
The 2008-9 season sees Paul Harrington and Pat Harrison becoming less involved in the junior section. They have been running it for over 10 years now and the time has come for them to hand the reigns over to new coaches, whilst still being around and available for advice and guidance. It is a tribute to Pat and Paul that they leave in place a well attended junior section and a large number of younger players in both the men's and ladies sections.
The 2 leaders of the junior section are now Tom Johnson and Rebecca Bushrod.
Junior training restarts on Tuesday 9th Sept, 2008 at 7pm at the Leisure Centre Astroturf pitch.
