Abergavenny Hockey Club
One of the oldest hockey clubs in Wales, with a proud history going back to 1897.
All Junior and Men’s training takes place at Crickhowell High School. Ladies training and senior matches are currently held at Monmouth Leisure Centre, until a new pitch is built at King Henry VIII School, Abergavenny. When and where do you play?

Our new pitch is taking a little longer than planned, so some fixture locations may change.
At the moment training sessions take place at the hockey pitches at Crickhowell High School. New Rd, Crickhowell, NP8 1AW and Old Dixton Road, Monmouth, NP25 3DP.

Home matches are currently played in Monmouth whilst we await our new pitch in Abergavenny.
Away matches vary considerably but are usually between 30 to 90 minutes’ drive away. Lift sharing is encouraged.
What kit do i need?
You will need a hockey stick! If you’re coming to training for the first time and don’t have one, let us know and you can borrow one for the training.
We also strongly recommend shin pads, astro hockey shoes, and a gum shield for playing matches. Some players also wear gloves.
How much is membership & what do i get?
If you decide you want to be a part of the club and play matches for us, there are several membership options available, including bulk payment, monthly payments and pay-per-match. Speak to your captain or the treasurer for more information.
Membership (except pay-per-match) usually covers all matches and training, affiliation to Hockey Wales, and the End of Season Dinner.
How can i sponsor the club?

Do you have any volunteer positions in the club?
We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers to help with things like coaching, umpiring, photography, first aid. Please get in touch with us if you would like to offer your services.
